INDEPENDENCE FLARE ~ HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

Before I begin telling you guys about this flare, I just want to wish America
Happy 239th Birthday and to those in the US who are celebrating, Happy Independence.
The weather is not so conducive to attending much outdoor activities, there are clouds
and passing showers off and on, so a barbecue with my neighbors is whats on the
agenda today.   So back to this flare thang, as much as I love skinny jeans, I certainly
favor a retro-inspired cut anyday.  The 70’s revival is arguably the biggest trend and
unlike their ankle-length and straight-legged cousins, flared jeans do pose some
difficulties when it comes to shoe pairing. That definitely did not stop me from
grabbing this pair when it called my name at TJ Maxx…lol, it went home with me
that evening.  So what shoes should you wear with your flared jeans?  I recommend
you try these shoe types to simplify the process and to keep your hems sleek and
off the ground.  Go for shoes in the form of a mule, ankle strap, a clog, wedge,
platforms or chunky heels.  With these options your jeans will fall straight and no
bunching at the ankles.
One decade that am inspired by is the 70’s, I love the over-size glasses, faux furs,
floppy hats and a good flare pants.  For my outfit, I paired my flare jeans with a
striped tee and I love that the pants is slimmer through the hips and thigh, I
add some chunky-heel sandals and some accessories to spice it up a bit.  Don’t
get stuck in a wardrobe rut, its good to experiment a little.  So guys, is
there an era that you most identify with, maybe the 50’s or 70’s maybe?

  1. A belated happy 4th of July to you Keishaw! :-*
Black + white + red = a strong look, and you totally nailed it!! Red is your colour; I’d like to see you in more red!

  2. LOVE THIS! Love, love, LOVE those red, flared jeans on you! Such a nice twist! I just treated myself to a pair of Frame Denim flared, high-waisted jeans in a nice, faded, pale blue. They are super long, and I pair them with these cute chunky, strappy platforms (that you can’t see with the jeans, they are so long they just clear the ground by a millimetre). I could live in those jeans!
